Coaching

Ravens Tennis Club

Beginners

For players who are new to the game, or have not played for many years. The course includes an introduction to the rules of tennis, basic strokes and using your shots in a game situation. The main aim will be to give players the confidence in their strokes and enough knowledge of the game to be able to join in club social tennis.

Improvers

For players who have an understanding and ability to play basic strokes, and are likely to have been playing for a year or more.The course will teach a further variety of strokes such as the use of spin, and will also help develop placement and consistency.

Intermediate (Ladies)

For players who play regularly in club social tennis, and possibly in club teams. The course will work on more advanced singles and doubles tactics and positioning, using your strengths and exploiting opponents' weaknesses; serve and return will be key features. The course will introduce secialist shots and tactics, and feature use of spin, power and accuracy.

Intermediate (Men)

As for the Intermediate Ladies, but with emphasis on serve and volley tactics and power play to dominate points.

When to Play

Why not join us for social tennis during one of our Club sessions for FREE? Hit a ball and see how you do! Racket and balls are available to borrow. As a special offer to new members there is a 15% off the annual fee if paid before the 15 April.

The table below shows the regular events schedule, feel free to come along and join in; players should wear appropriate sports clothing and tennis shoes with non-marking soles.

Ravens Tennis Club Committee

If you would like to become a member, please apply using the Application Form which should be emailed or posted to Lynne Beckwith, 145 Mayfield Avenue, London, N12 9HY. Membership fees can be paid by cheque or three-monthly Standing Order by completing this form and including it with your application. A full list of membership rates and concessions is below.

Directions By tube: Take the Northern Line to Woodside Park. Walk up Woodside Park Road, cross the High Road and continue down Torrington Park Road. Turn left on to Friary Road. The entrance to Ravens is just after you pass Mayfield Avenue on the left.


Terms and Conditions

Please Note: neither Ravens Lawn Tennis Club, nor any of the coaches working at the club, shall be liable for any injury sustained by anyone taking part in coaching. We will undertake, however, to exercise all reasonable care and attention in making activities as safe as possible. In cases of bad weather conditions coaches may post a notice on the outside notice board to show a lesson is cancelled. Please check each lesson is on before leaving your child at the club. For safety reasons, please could parents collect their children from inside the gates of the club. This will enable the coaches to see that the children have been collected safely and are accompanied when walking through the busy car park area. All Juniors taking part in coaching courses are expected to behave responsibly. Behavior such as swearing, racket throwing etc. will result in immediate withdrawal from the lesson. Bullying in particular will not be tolerated. Parents will be informed should their child be involved in any incident involving disciplinary action, and individuals may not be allowed to continue with their coaching should their behaviour continue to adversely affect the group.
